Nitric Oxide Supports Well-Being and Mood

A commentary in the medical literature discusses the important role nitric oxide plays in well-being and mood.

Despite its very short half-life, nitric oxide is known to modulate various neurotransmitter systems in the body and thus is speculated to play an important role in neurological health.

Studies have shown that NO plays a prominent role in emotional well-being. Nitric oxide modulates norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine and glutamate, the major neurotransmitters involved in the neurobiology of well-being and mood. Nitric oxide also is known to be involved in the activity of the new generations of mood-enhancing conventional alternatives.
