The Publisher's Desk: Cutting-Edge Approach to Raising Nitric Oxide
Last month, I mentioned two exciting new products we have introduced: The Neo40® Daily lozenge and the Salivary Nitric Oxide Test Strips. The lozenge is an arginine-free way to raise nitric oxide levels, promoting overall health and increased energy. Complementary Prescriptions is the exclusive distributor for these cutting-edge products to medical professionals.
I encourage you to read “Why L-Arginine is Ineffective at NO Restoration” by Nathan S. Bryan, PhD, which appears in this newsletter, as well as the first part in the Nitric Oxide series, which appeared in the September newsletter. This month’s nitric oxide article explores an intriguing new concept: That L-arginine is not an effective solution for individuals who want to enhance their nitric oxide level. It points out an interesting fact: Patients with endothelial dysfunction, by definition, are unable to convert L-arginine to NO, and, therefore, this strategy has failed in clinical trials.
Last month’s article, the first part in the series titled “Nitric Oxide: The Spark of Life That Becomes Extinguished With Age,” also is an intriguing glimpse into a molecule that should be on the radar for optimal health and wellness. If you haven’t read the first part in the series, you should read that article as well.
Dr. Bryan also presented a webinar about Nitric Oxide on September 21. If you missed this webinar, I invite you to sign up for the replay on the CP website.
In another note, the FDA recently announced that the comment period for responding to the Draft Guidance on New Dietary Ingredient Notifications is extended by 60 days to December 2, 2011. As I’ve reported in past columns, this draft guidance is horrifically flawed and will ultimately mean many supplements will be inaccessible to consumers altogether or simply too expensive. We are planning to submit comments through our FDA attorneys, and I will keep you updated on how this situation unfolds.
