A Recent Study Confirms Efficacy of Immune Modulator
by Jeffrey H. Reinhardt, MSc
A recent study has reinforced the immune system modulating abilities of EpiCor®, which works efficiently and rapidly to support the balanced regulation of the innate immune defense system.
Past studies have shown that EpiCor stimulates the “search and destroy” immune responder white blood cells, specifically Natural Killer (NK) cells, which are activated by specific “triggering” molecules in EpiCor. In addition, EpiCor has been shown to help augment the protective barrier function of the mucous membranes in the mouth, nasal passages, bronchial airway and the gastrointestinal tract by increasing the amount of the “coating” antibody called secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), which actively enhances the immune barrier capabilities of these protective, epithelial membranes.
Now, in a recent controlled, double blind pilot study, researchers studied the effects of EpiCor by administrating one, 500 mg capsule to each of 12 healthy subjects. The results showed that EpiCor produced a significant increase in serum antioxidant levels after two hours. The study also showed a rapid augmentation of the NK cell markers, CD25 and CD69, which provides additional evidence that EpiCor elicits an alert signal to the cell-mediated immune system’s “search and destroy” lymphocytes. This alert signal directs these NK lymphocytes to mount a vigorous and vigilant response.
The long-term consumption of 500 mg of EpiCor on a daily basis will help to support and sustain the balance of the immune defense system and ensure that it is poised to respond quickly.
